Open Position: Business Development Officer (full time)

Job Summary/Overview
We are Nucliq Biologics Inc (NBI), a biotechnology company envisioned to develop diagnostics & therapeutics based on the human microbiome (communities of microbes inhabiting the humans). Located at St. John’s, Newfoundland, we are on a mission to advance the understanding and application of microbiome science in human health.

The Opportunity
We are looking for you: a Business Development Officer who is an energetic, empathetic, and execution-oriented professional, experienced with, and passionate about, Health-tech/biotech and health and wellness sectors. You will work as lead business development officer in our St. John’s office, reporting to the founders of Nucliq.
Finally, the role requires a self motivated and strategic thinker that can simultaneously operate across multiple dimensions to advance the technical, strategic, and commercial efforts of our customer interactions.

As a Business Developer at Nucliq, you are expected to manage and excel in all phases of the business development cycle:

  • Help develop a go-to-market strategy for our products.
  • Involve in many tasks around our launch and post-launch of the products.
  • Conduct client communication, write compelling, error free documents, emails, presentations, etc,.
  • Spend a significant portion of time in the field, developing and leveraging relationships through personal meetings, presentations, networking, speaking engagements, or social outings.
  • Define marketing campaigns and generate high-quality content to generate inbound leads.


  • Friendly, outgoing personality with a bachelor’s degree
  • 1-3 years of tech start-up/launch (MVP) experience is an asset.
  • Strong Networking skills and ability to attain meetings with various industry decision makers
  • Identifying and development of channel partners within strategic markets.
  • Exceptional ability to develop and maintain business relationships
  • Constant sense of urgency and proactively exploring unique opportunities
  • A balance of a self-starter mentality and an ability to adhere to processes with time management skills.
  • Customer support, cold calling experience, or other customer-focused engagement
  • Ability of managing various business operational tasks with analytical thinking and high attention to detail.
  • Creating and maintaining a list/database of prospect clients; maintaining a database (Salesforce, CRM, Excel, etc.) of prospective client information
  • Contribute collaboratively to creative projects and company initiatives
  • Have a proven track record of generating and closing sales is an asset.
  • A demonstrated capability to manage all phases of the business development process, from market planning, personal outreach, lead identification to deal development.
  • An understanding of regulatory environments.
  • Travel required to meet and collaborate with potential customers for development of business relationships and partnerships
  • The ability to motivate and capture an audience with storytelling and being a big-picture thinker.
